1) FeatureClass > SpatialReference
This property must be set correctly, that is, the WKT, XOrigin, XYScale, XYTolerance and YOrigin must be populated. However to my knowledge this information is largely ignored by the Xml Workspace Document Importer.
2) FeatureClass > Extent > SpatialReference
Likewise, this spatial reference definition must be populated correctly for the Xml Workspace Document Importer to validate the document. However, once again this information does not appear to be used in the output feature class.
3) [Feature Class Shape Field] > GeometryDef > SpatialReference
Unlike (1) and (2) above, this definition is critical. This is the actual definition of the feature class spatial reference.
