FAQ:  Is it possible to modify the ArcGIS Online for Organizations URL?

No, it is not possible for users to directly modify the ArcGIS Online for Organizations URL.

During the first-time login to ArcGIS Online, the URL prompt appears and a short name for the organization, using the syntax <organization name>.maps.arcgis.com, must be entered. Once the URL indicator is set, the URL cannot be changed.


When creating a short name for the organization, use between 1 and 16 characters and include letters, numbers, and hyphens (-). Special characters other than hyphens (-) and spaces are not allowed.

If necessary, the ArcGIS Online for Organizations URL can be modified internally by the Development team. Contact Esri Technical Support for assistance to update the desired URL name. Provide the subscription ID, customer ID, username, and the current and the preferred URL name.
