The procedures below are divided based on the version of ArcGIS for Desktop installed. A reference screen shot of the folder path to 'SetBingKey.exe' is at the bottom of this article.
A. ArcGIS for Desktop 10
1. Ensure ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 5 (SP5) is installed.
ArcGIS 10 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Service Pack 5 – English
2. Install the ArcGIS 10 SP5 Set Bing Key Patch.
ArcGIS 10 SP5 (Desktop, Engine, Reader) Set Bing Key Patch
3. Once the patch installation is complete, open Windows Explorer and search for 'SetBingKey.exe' in the \bin folder where ArcGIS is locally installed on the system. The default location is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\bin
4. Double-click 'SetBingKey.exe'.
5. Enter the key in the box, and click OK.
B. ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1
1. Ensure ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed.
ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 (for Desktop, Engine, Server)
2. Install the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 (Desktop, Engine, Reader) Set Bing Key Patch:

3. Once the patch installation is complete, open Windows Explorer and search for 'SetBingKey.exe' in the \bin folder where ArcGIS is locally installed on the system. The default location is:

5. Enter the key in the box, and click OK.
C. ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.x
1. Ensure ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.x is installed on the system. No patch is needed for this version.
2. Open Windows Explorer and search for 'SetBingKey.exe' in the \bin folder where ArcGIS is locally installed on the system. The default location is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.2\bin
C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.2.1\bin
3. Double-click 'SetBingKey.exe'.
4. Enter the key in the box, and click OK.
