FAQ:  What is the ArcGIS Online connection executable in the system tray?

The ArcGISConnection.exe is a separate executable that indicates whether or not ArcGIS is able to establish a connection to ArcGIS.com or a local portal. If it can connect, options such as adding content from ArcGIS Online become available. The icon appears in the Windows taskbar.



Right-clicking the icon displays a context menu with options for testing the connection and running connection tests as well as setting the frequency that the ArcGIS system checks for a connection.
